A Time Of Release

I have few hours left in 2013.  As I look back over the year I can't say that this year has been easy nor comfortable, but I can say it's been one that God has gotten me through.  It's been a year that God has shown Himself real.  He is ever faithful.  Just as His Word says.

God has shown Himself so REAL!!

As I enter into a new year, and though in the last 24 hours or so have endured an onslaught of emotions that I can not fully describe, I choose to believe that 2014 is going to be one of the greatest years yet.

The bad decisions of my life will not ruin my destiny!  I may have had to stand in the field and watched the bitter seed I planted years ago have to grow, but in the past year or so I've watched with tears of appreciation as God has hewn it down.  It's true. I know it's true.  A burnt over field does not have to lay desolate. but new seed can be planted.  I have been planting new, goodly seed for a while now too.

And now it's harvest time!! I stand on this because I know that God can (and does) work miracles.  His Will will be done in my life, because His Will is ordered.  And I know What He orders will be performed.  I am a part of the 'people of the Name'.  This people has been through the fire before.  And they have come out victorious.

So...

Let the boat rock,
Let the storm rage
In the end God will see to it that His glory is manifested, and that it not only is manifest...but that it shines! I'm not satisfied with the emotions of victory.  I want the deliverance!

James 4:7-8  Submit therefore to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.

Hell, it's time to let us alone!!!!  I stand in defiance.  I drive you out!!!  In the NAME OF JESUS!!!  Victory shall be ours.

December 18

Luke 15:6
....Rejoice with me; for I have found my sheep which was lost.

God sees us for what we are.  We are His.

But the greatest part is when we make Him ours!  :)  This is when Relationship is born.
*****
He saw the best in you when everyone else around could only see the worst in you.

He loves to work (what looks to us mortals) to be the impossible.  He is a miracle worker.  He is a prayer-answering God.
*****
Today I rejoice.
I rejoice...yes, for a soul, a soul which I was in much question about has given himself back to God.

It is my prayer that he will stand.  that he will be steadfast.  that he remain in the hand of God and not walk away ever again.
*****
God sees what we do not see.
He saves.
He died to redeem.
He is faithful.
Even when we are not.
*****
IN GOD we ALL can find Joy Grace & Favor.
He can CHANGE us, ABSOLUTELY CHANGE US, but it is up to us to live out that change.
*****
The secret: staying in His presence.
It is a presence that can make a change and then usher forth an awesome future.

God be praised!

Candlelight Praise

Psalm 42:8  Yet the Lord will command his loving kindness in the day time, and in the night his song shall be with me, and my prayer unto the God of my life.

His loving kindness is the safety net which holds me up as I cast about on life's troubled sea.  Come what may there is a secret something that he throws out at me and sweetens all the bitterness which, at times, tries to pull me under.

As I look back over my life, these last 12 years have been miraculous.  Truly God is the God of my salvation!

Another day has dawned in this era of grace and I find Him still faithful.  He is sovereign.  Therefore I will rejoice in this day.

No stress of trial shall prevent His presence in my life.  In the darkness I shall take to remembrance His mercies and blessings which He has bestowed upon me.   When I think on all this it's as music unto my heart.  A song of praise can not help but gush forth from my mouth.   He is God alone.  He is omnipresent.  He KNOWS who I am.  And He knows the direction He wants to take me.

He uses all things for good.

Affliction may breathe on my candle, dimming it somewhat, but it shall not silence my song.  My prayers are yoked with praise unto the God of all.  I am assured of this one thing; all my sighs and my songs have free access to His Throne.  He hears me and He understands. Only God can take that which is shattered, mend it, and make it stronger than what it was before.

To be assured of this is to have reason for hope even in the most deplorable of circumstance.

Wherever you find yourself at this moment, God hears you, my friend.  He has not forsaken.  Ignite your mouth with praise and your candle will shine bright as the noon day again.  Hope thou in God!

Glad Tidings

Acts 2:46-47  Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts.  They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people.  And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.

Angels we have heard on high, sweetly singing o'er the plains;
And the mountains in reply, echoing their joyous strains.
Gloria in excelsis Deo! Gloria in excelsis Deo!

Shepherds, why this jubilee?  Why your joyous strains prolong?
What the gladness tidings be which inspire your heav'nly song?
Gloria in excelsis Deo! Gloria in excelsis Deo!

Come to Bethlehem and see Him whose birth the angels sing:
Come, adore on bended knee Christ the Lord, the newborn King,
Gloria in excelsis Deo!  Gloria in excelsis Deo!

He came to earth so that all men and women may be saved!!!  So thankful for the sacrifice He made.

In the midst of all the hustle and bustle of getting the presents, the decorations, the food....I pray we all take a long reflection on the TRUE MEANING of this Season.  God came to earth to save people from sin.  Be still and know what PEACE is.  Spread light like the baby born that night.  Give the greater gift.  Give LOVE.

Immanuel

Now all this was done that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet saying, Behold a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Immanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.  --Matthew 1:22-23

"Immanuel" literally means---God with us.  It is incredible to take into consideration that when Isaiah, the prophet, prophesied of Jesus coming into the world, he literally predicted that the future One to come would be the One who had already spoken galaxies into existence and that He would tabernacle Himself in flesh among men!!!

Indeed!  Immanuel--God with us.

I'm so grateful to know Him who is ONE.  Jesus is God!  :)

God of God, Light of Light,
Lo, He abhors not the virgin's womb,
Very God, begotten, not created;
O come, let us adore Him,
O come, let us adore Him,
O come, let us adore Him,
Christ the Lord.

Gloria!

Luke 2:13-14  And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.

Today as you ponder the Christ of Christmas may you remember that He alone is the One who emerged through the doorway of the Old Testament scriptures.

As a stanza of "Joy To The World" says, I now say:

No more let sin and sorrows grow,
Nor thorns infest the ground.
He comes to make His blessing flow
Far as the curse is found.

He was the long-awaited Christ and He is yet still Christ the Lord!!!

Night Blessing

Psalm 134

Behold, Bless ye the Lord, all ye servants of the Lord, which by night stand in the house of the Lord.  Lift up your hands in the sanctuary, and bless the Lord.  The Lord that made heaven and earth bless thee out of Zion.

This chapter is the last gradual psalm of degree and teaches us to pray for those who are continually ministering before the Lord.  It is also an invitation to the ministry to pronounce blessing over all the saints of the Most High.  *italics only meant for emphasis by the writer.
*********************
Bless the Lord for permitting you to serve Him. No servant should speak ill of his Master.  Even in the darkest night of your life, make your journey to the holy gates of Zion, look around you and behold reasons for sacred praise!  He is worthy, at all times, worthy!!!

In the sanctuary of the Most High is everlasting life.  We are to stand in the House of the Lord...even at night.  So many times there are those which are in the fight, a trial, and they choose to stay home.  They proclaim that  they're too tired to go to church for worship and edification.  Instead, they "hide".  But entering into God's presence is exactly where they should go.  Entering into His gates with Thanksgiving, even daring to go further, and entering into His courts is exactly the thing needed.  Not with a tight fist and pressed lips, but with hands raised and a praise gushing out of their mouth.  Thinking on the goodness of the Lord, not on one's self.

Especially when walking through a long journey and feeling the weight of care.  Because when you think on the good things of God, you get strength.

It is this sequence of praise in which we all must live by.  Blessing God and in turn He blesses us.  May bless and blessing be the two words that describe our lives.  Let others flatter their fellows, or praise themselves; as for the children of God, we will bless the Lord from Whom all blessing flows.

Yes, even in the dark night of our life.  Especially then.

A Preserving Visitation

Job 10:12  Thou hast granted me life and favour, and thy visitation hath preserved my spirit

So thankful for a visitation that can keep me from crumbling.  He is so loving and kind.  My Savior is wonderful.

Never would've made it this far without Jesus.  I can see now that the trials which come my way only came to make me wiser and stronger.  I never would've made it without Him.  He is my ROCK.  He is always there for me.  He is great and He does miracles so great.  There is absolutely NO BODY like Him.  I am so much better...I see that I am so much better...because He brought me through.  I would have lost my mind at times if I had not known the JOY of His salvation.  He was there...still is there...to carry me through all my mess.

So grateful for His favor.  So grateful He granted me LIFE.

HE IS A KEEPER!  He is a Preserver.  He has maintained me.  He has protected.  He has conserved me.  I love Him with all my heart!

Have a WONDERFUL Wednesday.  Remember to look back over the year and count the blessings that came out of your trials.  Happy Thanksgiving Eve :)

He Knows Your Days

Psalm 37:18-19  The Lord knoweth the days of the upright: and their inheritance shall be forever.  They shall not be ashamed in the evil time: and in the days of famine they shall be satisfied.

When God is all you have....God is all you need! :)  So thankful today that God KNOWS it all.  He knows my name.  I'm satisfied in Him.

Have a Totally Awesome Tuesday! C-u tomorrow.

YET I Will

Habakkuk 3:17-19a  Although the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines; the labour of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no meat; the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no herd in the stalls: YET I will rejoice in the Lord, I will joy in the God of my salvation.  The Lord God is my strength

God is all you have....God is all you need.  :)  And as a great Elder in my life, who has since passed on, once said, "When you're down to nothing, God's up to something".  Truly that is the way I feel today.  Rejoicing in His love and provision on this cold, rainy day.  I love Him with all my heart.

There is always reason for rejoicing!  Hope you've had a Marvelous Monday. C-u tomorrow.

Knowing Secrets

And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear.  --Isaiah 65:24

Feeling so blessed and so thankful, today, for those sweet moments that He answered a request BEFORE I could even pray it.  He knows our very thoughts.

He's God Almighty so He gets to be in on the "secret" things.  :) ;)  Love Him.

Have a blessed day!

Calling Trusting & Obeying

Call upon Me in the day of trouble:  I will deliver thee
 --Psalm 50:15

I want to live close enough to Him that when I call He will answer :)  So in love with Jesus.  So thankful He is my very best friend.  There have been many times that He has proven His Word--namely this scripture--to be TRUE!

He is the Almighty Deliverer!!!  It feels so good to just trust and obey.  I haven't always, but it's been so rewarding when I have. :-)

When we walk with the Lord
in the light of his word,
what a glory he sheds on our way!
While we do his good will,
he abides with us still,
and with all who will trust and obey
.

Trust and obey, for there's no other way
to be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.

2. Not a burden we bear,
not a sorrow we share,
but our toil he doth richly repay;
not a grief or a loss,
not a frown or a cross,
but is blest if we trust and obey.

Trust and obey, for there's no other way
to be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.

3. But we never can prove
the delights of his love
until all on the altar we lay;
for the favor he shows,
for the joy he bestows,
are for them who will trust and obey.

Trust and obey, for there's no other way
to be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.

4. Then in fellowship sweet
we will sit at his feet,
or we'll walk by his side in the way;
what he says we will do,
where he sends we will go;
never fear, only trust and obey

Trust and obey, for there's no other way
to be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.

Trusting this Tuesday ;-)  Blessing always.

Soaring

Philippians 4:8  Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

A lot of things could be thought of.  We can waste so much time thinking on the less than positive things in or around our life.  This is why I am so thankful for this scripture.

Instead of allowing my imagination to run wild.  I need to think on what is:

TRUE...HONEST...JUST...PURE...LOVELY...Of GOOD REPORT...

When we pray rather than fret we will be less anxious. This scripture is a ready-made recipe for an antidote to anxiety.  This scripture makes allowance for us to focus on those things that will usher in the peace of God rather than the churning depressions of this world.  It challenges us on how we should talk to our self.

How we think--the thoughts we process---so often can attribute to the churning, rather than the peace of God.

Thinking good thoughts will lift your spirits.  Thinking on the great things of God and the positive things in life will cause you to feel like you can soar.   It's your day to soar!

Happy Monday!  Be blessed.

Light In A Dark Place

Micah 7:8  Rejoice not against me, O mine enemy: when I fall, I shall arise; when I sit in darkness, the Lord shall be a light unto me.

If you feel that you are in a dark place, take heart, you are not alone!  Jesus is very near.  Take refuge in Him.  Allow even the mustard-seed of faith to reach out to Him.  Take comfort in the One who knows it all.

Happy Friday!!!  Have a blessed weekend!

A Pentecost Today

Acts 2:1-4  And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.  And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.  And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.  And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

It is good to note that in verse 4 it tells us of how the Holy Ghost is the evidence of speaking with tongues.  I also find it rather interesting that this verse also is the fulfillment of Acts 1:8

"But ye shall receive power after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

God's language is universal.  Unto every point of the earth.  North.  South.  East.  West.  And all coordinates between.  God wanted His Spirit to reside within every soul.

The Holy Ghost gives Power.  Strength to live right.  Strength to talk right.  Strength to walk right.  His Spirit is also the Comforter.

God's powerful, saving presence will always challenge us to understand Him and His ways.  I'm so thankful I took the time to welcome the challenge.  :)   Pentecost in the 21st century has become a source of division, even as it is also a curiosity.  I'm so thankful I've experienced it!!!!  It has added to my life in innumerable ways.  I really don't know what I'd do without it.

Happy Thursday to all.  Be blessed.

Unto A Faithful Creator

I Peter 4:19  Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to him in well-doing, as unto a faithful Creator.

Knowing the signs of the times our attitude should be one of Commitment.  Taking up your cross means commitment, not looking back.

An attitude of Commitment and an attitude of Love can make us sour to the Divine.  Committing your soul to God while in the midst of suffering, because you know that the fiery trial you face now is meant for your purification, while the fire the ungodly will face one day is meant for their punishment.

Those who reject Jesus Christ have seen the best of life that their eternal existence will ever see.

This is why we must count it all joy when we endure the fiery trial(s) that come upon us here.  God allows it because He means it for our good.  In our humanity we sometimes do not understand this concept.  In those times we must keep in remembrance that His ways are past finding out and He wants what is best for us.  He knows best.  Always.  His job is to make us BETTER.

The Saints of God can rejoice, knowing that the test and sufferings they face here on earth are temporal.

Not all suffering is the will of God, but yet while we suffer in even what we do not understand, we can TRUST in the Friend of all friends which is also our Creator.  God is our faithful Creator and He knows how to take good care of the pliable clay that we are.

So much of the agony we put ourselves through while in trial is the result of not fully regarding the faithful, divine love of our God.  He is sovereign, yet while so, He is faithful.

When we commit our souls to Him we leave our souls in a safe place.  So Let's live in an attitude of Gratitude: Commitment, Love, Trust, and see what God has in store!!  :)

Blessings on this Wednesday!

His Sustaining Power

Psalm 55:22  Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.

I Peter 5:6-7  Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:  Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you

We can not carry our burdens alone, thinking we've got this all by our self, and somehow taking pride in our endeavor.  When we do, pretty soon, we find that the weight is so unbearable we can not seem to take even one more step.  Then the weight of embarrassment comes also.

God did not intend for us to be weighted down with care.  He did not intend for us to be weighted down in worry.

We can do all things, but it isn't by our own power, it is through the mighty power of God.  Being humble brings to us the help we need.  We are only as strong as our need of Him.

Happy Tuesday!  Be blessed.

A Joy That Is Heard

Psalm 51:8, 12 Make me to hear joy and gladness; that the bones which thou hast broken may rejoice.  Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.

God could have taken David's very life for the sin which he committed.  Yet, God chose to spare David's life, so instead, allowed him to feel the full weight and agony of his sin.  Thus the reason for David's words "the bones which thou hast broken".  David was crushed.

Yet God's Spirit is willing.  He wants restoration for us also.  We must be a ready recipient.  Restoration comes to us through obedience to God's Word.  The joy of pardon is much louder than the voice of sin.  The very thing that you are being corrected for can bring joy.  For a lesson has been learned.

A penitent--one who seeks forgiveness from God--does not need to settle for perpetual mourning; he need only keep a repentant heart and ask for gladness, and he shall have it; for if when prodigals return, the father is made glad.  Neighbors and friends rejoice also.  So, what need is there that the restored one should remain wretched. Spiritual joys spring only from God Almighty.  And Spiritual joys, are not only felt, but can also resonate within the heart to the whole being of a person.

When you know you have been restored you can not help but hear joy.  Its as if the song-bird is following you around all day.  Allow that joy to spill over and touch someone else's life today.  Tell somebody what God has done for you.

Be glad in the Lord today.  Happy Monday!  Be blessed.

Satisfied Soul

Psalm 107:8-9  Oh that men would praise the Lord for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!  For he satisfieth the longing soul, and filleth the hungry soul with goodness.

Going to church today.  Loving this thought!  For In His sanctuary I find rest.  In His sanctuary I find peace.  In His sanctuary I find love.  In His sanctuary I find joy.

I encourage each and every soul to find a church home.  Find a place to gather with the saints of the Most High and get your praise on!

I'll leave you with this song by: Clara T Williams, 1875 The Gaither Vocal Band sings it too.

Satisfied (Hallelujah I Have Found Him)

All my life I had a longing
For a drink from some clear spring,
That I hoped would quench the burning
Of the thirst I felt within.

Refrain:
Hallelujah! I have found Him
Whom my soul so long has craved!
Jesus satisfies my longings,
Through His blood I now am saved.

Feeding on the husks around me,
Till my strength was almost gone,
Longed my soul for something better,
Only still to hunger on.

Poor I was, and sought for riches,
Something that would satisfy,
But the dust I gathered round me
Only mocked my soul’s sad cry.

Well of water, ever springing,
Bread of life so rich and free,
Untold wealth that never faileth,
My Redeemer is to me.

Satisfied in Jesus today.  Happy Sunday!!  Be blessed.

Nevertheless

ok.  so the plan for this month is to scripture blog everyday.  I have already missed one day.  But, here goes.

Psalm 106:43-44  Many times he did deliver them; but they provoked him with their counsel, and were brought low for their iniquity.  Nevertheless he regarded their affliction, when he heard their cry

So very thankful for a NEVERTHELESS in my life.

Many times we find ourselves in places--circumstance--that is uncomfortable.

eventually so, anyway.

What brings us to these moments??!  These uncomfortable places?

Basically, it is because, we forget God.

Although we know He is omnipresent (always with us), and we know He's "somewhere", we forget to include Him in on our daily lives.  He's backstage somewhere, but not on the Stage of Life with us.

We just wake up each morning, go to work, have our great weekends, etc., and we forget that He is watching us.  We forget that He is waiting for communication from us.

It's time to include Him, ya'll.  He cares about every detail of our lives.  We need to bring Him out on stage WITH us!  We must not wait until we find ourselves in trouble.  In need.  In a scary place.

We need to find more time.  We need to make the time.  A set-a-side time.  A time for one-on-one with God.

Daily Prayer Time will keep us in a safe place.  A clean place.  A holy place.  Daily Prayer will keep us within the safe boundaries needed.  A daily prayer habit will keep us in RELATIONSHIP with our Maker.  And how sweet it is!

So, allow Him to hear your cry, your voice.

He designed us for communication.  Just try it.

Communicate with Him.

Set a timer.  Put yourself on schedule.  Bend a knee for at least 30 minutes of your day.  Make time for your God.  A determined time with Him.  I promise you, it makes a wonderful difference in your life.

Oh, and here's a tip:  Don't wait until 30 minutes before falling asleep.  You'll be too tired then. and you won't be able to focus. :)

Just a thought.  Happy Saturday.  Be blessed!

Rock of Ages

Psalm 77:6  I call to remembrance my song in the night: I commune with mine own heart: and my spirit made diligent search.

I always find it so amazing when in the dark moments of life God gives a song.  The one on my heart now is an old hymn.

ROCK OF AGES by the Reverend Augustus Montague Toplady written in 1763 and first published in The Gospel Magazine in 1775.

Rock of Ages, cleft for me,
Let me hide myself in Thee;
Let the water and the blood,
From Thy riven side which flowed,
Be of sin the double cure,
Save from wrath and make me pure

Not the labor of my hands
Can fulfill Thy law's demands;
Could my zeal no respite know,
Could my tears forever flow,
All for sin could not atone;
Thou must save, and Thou alone.

Nothing in my hand I bring,
Simply to Thy cross I cling;
Naked, come to Thee for dress;
Helpless, look to Thee for grace;
Foul, I to the fountain fly;
Wash me, Savior, or I die.

While I draw this fleeting breath,
When my eyes shall close in death,
When I soar to worlds unknown,
See Thee on Thy judgment throne,
Rock of Ages, cleft for me,
Let me hide myself in Thee

This hymn is regarding as one of the Great Four Anglican Hymns of the 19th Century. Traditionally, it be told that Rev. Toplady, who was a preacher in a village called Blagdon, drew inspiration from an incident in the gorge of Burrington Combe in England.  While travelling along the gorge he was caught in a storm.  Finding shelter in a gap in the gorge, Toplady was struck by the simple words Rock of Ages.  Right then he scribbled down the initial lyrics upon a playing card, the beginning of a hymn that was being born in his heart.

Rock of Ages, Cleft for me
Let me hide myself in Thee.

The fissure that is believed to have sheltered him is now marked as the "Rock of Ages", right there in that rock.

(research source: Wikipedia)
******
How oft it is that we too can be traveling along, doing God's bidding, and an unexpected storm come upon us.  Aren't you so thankful for the Rock in your life?  Aren't you so thankful for a Song in the night?  Truly God is shelter in any storm.  So grateful to know Him.  So grateful to know His infinite grace and love.  He is worth hiding in, my friend.

Daily Praise

God gave you a gift of 86,400 seconds today.  Have you used one to say "Thank You"?
---William A. Ward

Psalm 150:6  Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.  Praise the Lord.

The only way to give thanks for hard things in life is to look at them with an eternal vision.  Looking at them from God's perspective.  Through it all don't ever lose your praise, your heart of thankfulness!  Leave the outcome to Him, allow Him to be glorified in and through you.  He knows just the ingredient that will make us better, not bitter.  We must trust Him.  Always trust Him.

Praise God in the glorious, warm sun
Praise Him in the pelting, cold rain
Praise Him as you drive to church
Praise Him as you drive to the doctor
Praise Him in the good report
Praise Him in the diagnosis
Praise Him in freeway traffic and
Praise God on the country road

Praise God while on the job
Praise Him when on vacation
Praise Him on payday and as
You make your house payment

Praise Him when you awake
Praise Him when you can not sleep
Praise Him for take-out and
Praise Him for elegant banquets

Praise God when you're in your prime
Praise Him when you don't have a dime

Praise God in the chaos of a family gathering
Praise Him in the quietness of a lonely room
Praise Him while your given applause
Praise Him even in while your criticized.

Praise Him with your heart and your voice and
Praise Him in silence too

Let EVERYTHING that hath breath praise ye the Lord!!!!

Master Of The Wind

Isaiah 26:3 (NIV)
You will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast, because he trusts in you.

This scripture was quoted on my daily calendar for today.

So needed.

So appreciated.

A nugget of truth to hold onto in a confusing day.

So thankful I know the Master of the wind.  Bill Gaither sure got it right-on when he wrote this song!

My boat of life sails on the troubled sea,
Whenever there's a wind in my sails
But I have a friend, who watches over me,
When the breeze turns into a gale

I know the Master of the wind,
I know the Maker of the rain
He can calm the storm, make the sun shine again,
I know the Master of the wind

Sometimes I soar like and eagle to the sky,
Among the peaks my soul can be found.
An unexpected storm may drive me from the heights,
Bring me low, but never brings me down

I know the Master of the wind,
I know the Maker of the rain
He can calm the storm, make the sun shine again,
I know the Master of the wind

Song on my heart: Come and Dine

Jesus has a table spread
Where the saints of God are fed,
He invites His chosen people, “Come and dine”;
With His manna He doth feed
And supplies our every need:
O ’tis sweet to sup with Jesus all the time!

“Come and dine,” the Master calleth, “Come and dine”;
You may feast at Jesus’ table all the time;
He Who fed the multitude, turned the water into wine,
To the hungry calleth now, “Come and dine.”

The disciples came to land,
Thus obeying Christ’s command,
For the Master called unto them, “Come and dine”;
There they found their heart’s desire,
Bread and fish upon the fire;
Thus He satisfies the hungry every time.

Soon the Lamb will take His bride
To be ever at His side,
All the host of Heaven will assembled be;
O ’twill be a glorious sight,
All the saints in spotless white;
And with Jesus they will feast eternally.

Peace Speaker

Psalm 85:8  I will hear what God the Lord will speak: for he will speak peace unto his people, and to his saints: but let them not turn again to folly.

So many times we lend an ear to so many other voices and not the voice of the One who has all power to save us, our Redeemer--Jesus Christ, the one true and living God.

When trouble comes we tend to run to Him....well, as long as it is not of our own doing.  However, when it is a result of our own foolishness, we tend to run and hide from His presence.  It is pride that keeps us clothed in our fig-leaves.  Like our father and mother, Adam & Eve, we weave a covering for our self, thinking that we've got it all under control and out of sight, when in reality, we are exposed.  Nothing is hid from God Almighty.

On the exterior we shine like new, but inside we are full of dead men's bones.  We need to come into God's presence, with all our faults, sins, and griefs, willing to expose our self to Him; for only then can we be fully whole.

To the child of God who is willing take the correction....

To the child of God who is willing to take the comfort...

Peace comes.

Turn away from "SELF" and turn toward Christ.  He is the only One that can fix it and make you whole.

What a friend we have in Jesus
All our sins and griefs to bear
What a privilege to carry
Everything to God in prayer

Instead of telling our friends and neighbors and fellow-saints about all the wrong that has come against us, why don't we do everyone a favor (including our self) and go to the One who knows the end from the beginning; the very Peace-Speaker of our lives?

Fight On, Wounded Soldier

Come let us pour out the oil
bind the hurt in them
Cover them with a blanket of God's Love
Come let us break the bread
Come let us give them rest
Let's minister healing to them
Don't let another wounded soldier die

Obeying orders
Fight on the front line
Tear down the enemy's strongholds
But weak from battle
Satan creeps in to kill and lie
But don't let another wounded soldier die

Come pour the oil
Come bind the hurt
Let's cover them with a blanket of God's Love

God hears all the wounded who cry out for help and peace.  His ear is not deaf.  His arms are not too short to reach down and draw us close.  He can, and will, send His Spirit of restoration & comfort.  His Spirit is the thing needed to give us the will to see things through the darkest of times.  He whispers sweet-nothings in every ear, touches every heart who wants to be touched.  He sees every tear.  He says, "FEAR NOT, MY CHILD.  I WILL BE WITH YOU ALWAYS.  I KNOW HOW TO TAKE CARE OF WHAT BELONGS TO ME."

Tonight I am feeling that sweet presence.  I've been in the battle for quite awhile, 2013 has been a rough one.  Yet His Spirit is what keeps me pressing on.

I love Him so much.

I'm glad I serve the One who understands even when I can not form the words to speak.  Even when I can't wrap my mind around all that's troubling me.  Even when I can't sort it all out into an intelligent conversation with Him.  So thankful He KNOWS.  He mends my shattered courage.  Oh, yes, for from time to time I do struggle with that.

However, God sees it all.  He knows the heart.  He knows the mind.  And I stand on His promise "I'LL BE WITH YOU ALWAYS".  I trust in the fact that He KNOWS!!  And I trust that HE KNOWS just how to take care of what belongs to Him.  For I do belong....to Him.  :)  So grateful for that.

I don't know what any of the tomorrows hold for me but I trust the One who sends every tomorrow my way.  His love is rich!!!

Ya'll be blessed!!  ~md

A Proverb For The Home

Proverbs 24:3-4
Through wisdom is an house builded; and by understanding it is established: and by knowledge shall the chambers be filled with precious and pleasant riches.

There is a saying, one that I seem to be hearing often lately, that goes like this:  "It doesn't have to be perfect to be good".

What is "PERFECT", anyway?  When you picture perfection, what do you see?

Regarding my home, I certainly never pictured me as the "head of household", mother to only 1 child.  That is not the perfect picture in my illustrated story-book life.  I still don't like that picture...but, thankfully, the life I live isn't one from my story-book.  And it doesn't have to be picture-perfect to be good.  My life is good.

I have God.
He guides me each and every day.
I totally rely on Him.
He's my Provider.
He's my Protector.
And I KNOW He loves me.
What's more?  He's been so faithful.  Even though I mostly don't deserve it.

If you take a second or two to look at a Single-Parent Apostolic home you'll be looking at a home with a lot of guts.  By that I mean, a home with lots of courage.  Not perfection, but courage.

Single-Parents know they can't do it all on their own.  But they courageously make it seem so.

It takes wisdom and understanding to make a strong home.  For any home it takes a ton of wisdom to keep it running smoothly and in the right direction.

But take a Single-Parent home and you'll find that it takes "double-strength" of wisdom and understanding.  As for me, it feels like I need to have double the eyeballs, 2 brains, 4 feet, 4 legs, 4 arms, double the prayer & bible-reading...and the list goes on.

There's dusting, mopping, cooking.   All things Housework. A full-time out-of-the-home J-O-B to go to everyday.  And the car to wash.  The lawn to mow.  Car-maintenance.  Etc.

But all that "daily-ness" is not my biggest worry.  And most often I find that something on that list gets left undone.  One person can't possibly get all that done in one day anyway.  At least this momma can't.

And what I'm most concerned with is that my home is as well-balanced as can be.  I want to make sure my daughter not only is taken care of on the natural side, but most importantly, the spiritual side.  For it's the things of the spirit that last for eternity.  The dishes can wait.

And at the end of the day we Single-Parents just wish we had someone to talk to, to vent to.  We wish someone could understand and share our worries and our joys.  We wish for someone to "swap stories with".

Thankfully....JESUS is my constant answer to that.  I can't hear an audible voice answering me back but I can feel His undeniable presence.

I don't know what I'd do without Him.  That sounds so cliche'.  But it is SOoooo true.  Jesus is the Someone who keeps me from unraveling.  It's because of Jesus that my home is filled with rare and beautiful treasures.   Walls make up a house, but it's a family that makes up a home.

No matter the number in you family, it's still a treasure.  And even if you're a family of only one....if you have God as your Father...your a part of His family.  And, that's awesome indeed!  That's huge!

Whatever life you've been dealt, CHERISH every moment.  It so swiftly passes.

The Agony of Transformation

Romans 12:2  And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

Three challenges are given here:

1. Do not comply with the rules, standards and laws of a worldly-mindset.
2. Make a thorough, dramatic change in appearance and/or character
3. Restore/re-start your mind to things of the Spirit.

We all are guilty.  If we all are honest with ourselves we all can say, "I'm guilty of not doing my part 24/7 in the transformation process."

In the flesh it is easier to conform rather than be transformed.  Transformation takes WORK.  Hard.  Knee-breaking. Work.  It takes determination.  Mostly it takes the POWER of the Spirit.

Outward holiness is often times not our Spiritual issue.  The evidence of the fruit of the Spirit is.

There are so many who have their sleeve length right, collar length right, have their hair-dos just so, and hem length just right, but have black, pharisaical, devouring spirits.  The outward is there.  Pristine.  The inward, not so much.

At times, we've all been guilty.

Galatians 5:22-23  But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law

It's easier for humanity to pick The Fruit rather than ingest it. It's more compatible to the fleshly nature of the heart to be consumed/conformed to the ways and standards of  our flesh.  Picking The Fruit of the vine to consume it is the easy part.  Actually consuming it, and being filled by it, this is the hard part.  Sometimes even the very thought of having to do it gives indigestion to our fleshly nature.

Oh admit it.  I know you've been there.

Nobody, (and we all have been here), wants to be joyful and full of love toward somebody (or bodies) who have lit a torch to our already wounded, bruised soul/mind/heart.  Nobody likes to be the one to fulfill the ideal (the standard/the Godly watermark) of loving, doing good and showing kindness toward individuals who have time and time and again spit [as it were] in our face.  Told lies.  Been manipulative.  Deceptive. Back-biting.  Tale-bearing.

Nobody, when honest with themselves, would say they find it easy to love and show love toward the person who breeds them pain.  It hurts too much.

But...Romans is there in God's Word.  We can not pass over it.  It is to be consumed. Transformation gives power.  It is our defense.  Our protection.  Our armor.  Conformation defeats.  It devours.  It lays our soul bare to the devices of the enemy.

Lord, Please help me.  I thank you that your compassions fail not.  I thank You that your mercy is renewable.  I thank You, that though it hurts so bad, I can still appreciatively see the inner process of Godly transformation in my home and my life.  Please continue to show your compassions.  And what's more, Lord, please help me to control my turmoil.  As for me and my house, let us be totally centered in the position and condition where Your glory can be manifested.  No matter how much it hurts in the meantime.

GOD KNOWS!

 I needed this today.
(btw: I didn't personally get this from facebook)

Romans 8:26
The Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.

The Entrance

Psalm  119:130  The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding to the simple.

God wants us to know that not only is He our God, but He is our Shepherd, our Father, and our King.

In the darkness of life, here comes Jesus.  He enters our darkness and He gives light.  He longs to be a our Friend.  He longs to be of help.  He is the God of hope!

God's understanding of any situation we face is far more superior than what we could ever comprehend.

We are His sheep.  Creatures that need a leader.  Creatures that need instruction.  I am so thankful that I do not have to have a Ph.D to get into the presence of God.  I'm thankful that I have the assurance of this scripture which tells me that His Word gives understanding to the simple.  Simple people aren't stupid.  Simple people are sponges, able to soak up, able to have belief, that God is who He says He is and that His Word is truth.  Simple people do not over-analyze His Word.  They simply believe.  The Proverb instructs us in Proverbs 6:23, For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light; and reproofs of instruction are the way of life.

It's a way of life. Much as the sheep out in the pasture are in need of a shepherd, so are we.

God brings hope in depression, direction out of confusion, and light for the next step.  Let's make Jesus our Leader.  Our way of life.

John 8:12, Jesus says, "I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life."

On this day I am ever so grateful that I have the Light and Instruction in hand.  Cover me, Lord, with Thy Word.

The Sea-Walker IS With Me

Psalm 93:4
The Lord on high is mightier than the noise of many waters, yea, than the mighty waves of the sea.

Psalm 89:9
Thou rulest the raging of the sea: when the waves thereof arise, thou stillest them.

Psalm 92:8
But Thou, Lord, art in control for evermore.

When trouble rages never forget that God is still in control!!!!!

Just hold on!

Stay in the boat!

Cause, with Jesus, everything is gonna be alright!!!!

Acceptable Losses

A Portion of Psalm 119 (MSG):
Oh, that my steps might be steady, keeping to the course you set; Then I’d never have any regrets in comparing my life with your counsel.

Acceptable Loss:  how much one might lose should things not turn out in a way hoped for.

Close to 10 years ago now I entered into a world of "Divorcee".  Not a kind word.  Not a word I ever expected would be titled to me.  In all honestly it is still a word I do not like.  I don't like it, but I've learned to accept it.

In my 'world of divorce' I have seen God's power move in my life so great.  If divorce--my personal hardship---is what it took to bring me to the place I am now....well, so be it.  I take the title with grace, humility, and honor.  God has done so much for and through me via this journey.  I am blessed.

But, I have had to come to terms--through much pain and anguish---with my losses.  I have had to focus on the acceptable losses, learn, and keep going.  Through the acceptable losses of life I have had to...

1. determine my desire
2. take small steps
3. learn from taking the small steps
4. build off that learning and took another step

What I'm trying to say is, I've had to ACT. LEARN. BUILD. and REPEAT.

This process has helped me in other areas of my life too.  My friendships (a whole other post!). My employment.  Possessions.  And the list goes on.

Life...it has been a journey.

For now it is the course HE has set for me.  And His Word has been my daily counsel.   Counsel of which I am most grateful.

CAN do hard things!

Philippians 4:6-7, 13 says, Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.  And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.  I can do all this through him who gives me strength.

When it comes to moving into the unknown, keep the course with steady steps.  Even as your heart pounds and your knees feel like jelly, just keep going.  While doing so, don't so much focus on unexpected returns, but rather, focus your attention on the Master and what He can do with your acceptable losses.

A Word Fitly Spoken

Psalm 61:2-3 "From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed lead me to that rock that is higher than I.  For thou hast been a shelter for me, and a strong tower from the enemy."

My sweet friend, Jenni, text me this scripture today.  I'm grateful for friends who know when to speak a word in season and for friends who know how to pray.  And not only know how....but will do it. :)

Afterwards She also text me,
Isaiah 41:10  Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.

When there are no words...the Word of God is what calms like absolutely nothing else.

Blessed For Trusting

Psalm 2:12
Blessed are all they that put their trust in Him.
***
Numbers 20:19-20
God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent:  hath he said, and shall he not do it?  Or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?  Behold, I have received commandment to bless: and he hath blessed; and I cannot reverse it.
***
Numbers 6:24-27
The Lord bless thee, and keep thee:  The Lord make His face to shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee:  The Lord lift up His countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.  And they shall put my name upon the children of Israel; and I will bless them.
***

I'm so grateful....so utterly thankful....SO BLESSED...that God is Who He is, and not like people.  People are flesh, prone to failure.  People lie.  People change their mind constantly.

But God is GOD.  Not human.  Whatever He promises, He does.  You can count it done.
Matters not that you do not see the fruition of the blessing yet.
It is a 'done deal'.
:)
When God blesses, not one person can call that blessing back.
God's blessing can not be revoked, reversed, or mistaken by any foe, friend, or family-member.
What God blesses is blessed indeed.
Matters not what man's opinion is.

God sees your faith.
God sees your trust.
So keep walking.
keep riding your chariot.
keep seeking.
keep praying.
keep praising.
keep worship alive within you.
let worship pour out of you.

God is raining down 'Showers of Blessing' to those who put their trust in Him.

God blessed.
So 'go ye'.

Go, march onward, Christian-Soldier; and live in the promise that He'll never leave you nor forsake you.

I'm doing my best to live in the promises of God this week.  Walking in faith.  And as I walk, I am cheering Him on all the way.  I'm jumping and waving my pom-poms.  Victory shall come!

You GO, GOD, Go!!!!

An Assembled People

PSALM 7:7
Let the assembled peoples gather around you,
while you sit enthroned over them on high

Looking forward to Worship & Bible Study tonight!

I know I haven't blogged much....hope to change that soon.
Having a bit of brain-fog lately.

But, just wanted to 'check-in' today and post this scripture.

Surely God does sit high and reach low!
And I want to be SURE to be a part of His people that are gathered around His Throne.
I need the Lord more now than ever.

Blessings to all

Choosing

Romans 12:12  Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; at all times in prayer.
Romans 15:13  Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.

Jesus is my source of hope, filling me with joy, peace, and belief!

You see, I have to have joy, peace, and belief in order to overflow in hope.  I can only abound in these [joy, peace, belief] through the power of the Holy Ghost.

The holy Spirit of God propels me forward when it seems all I have is fear.  Fear wants to take over, trying to steal my next victorious step. Fear is a thief.  The Spirit of God is a giver, never taking.  Instead it just adds and adds again until I am filled to overflowing---abounding.  I love it when I can feel it like this!

His Spirit is my true source of strength.  A fresh flow of His Spirit is the reason--the only reason--I can keep moving my feet, walking in/through all trial.

Persevering only through Him, that's me.  Most days I feel I'm not "getting it quite right", but I press on.  The heritage I've been given is a great motivator.

I must joy in God and take joy again and again.  Of late, or so it seems, I must do so every second upon every second.  To choose joy.  To choose endurance.  To choose prayer.  It is the only way to be filled with power to walk the path I have been given.

God is a refuge for us!

Seek God

Philippians 4:5b-6
The Lord is near.
Do not be anxious about anything,
but in every situation,
by prayer and petition,
with thanksgiving,
present your requests to God.

Don't be anxious about anything, but be prayerful about everything!

We must keep focus.
Always to come before our Lord with a grateful heart,
not grudges,
or ever feeling that He is against us and will not answer.

He sees it all.  He is as close as the mention of His name.
He is near...always near.

And He knows the way you take
And He knows what's best for you.

He is our judge, but He is also our advocate.
He is full of compassion
And His compassions....they fail not!
He gives a new dose every morning!!!

Psalm 20:5
We will rejoice in thy salvation,
and in the name of our God we will set up our banners:
the Lord fulfill all thy petitions.
*****
Asking that God will fulfill--for you--all prayers that are according to His will.
He knows just the right time to start His work...and to complete it.
Much love!

Meden Agan

Philippians 4:5a  Let your moderation be known unto all men.

In ancient Greece, the temple of Apollo at Delphi bore the inscription Meden Agan - 'Nothing in excess'.

Moderation is self-control.

Moderation is a lifelong process, and is considered to be a key part of one's personal development. There is nothing that cannot be moderated including one's actions, ones desires and even thoughts. It is believed that by doing so one achieves a more natural state, faces less resistance in life, and recognizes one's limits.

For a year and a half I have been trying to intake food very moderately.  Dieting certainly puts the food pyramid (or pie, or whatever it's called now) on front and center stage.  Dieting never allows for excess.  I have not conquered this "battle of the bulge", but I certainly am learning more self-control than ever before AND the health benefits of eating the right things!  Self-control in this area has also reaped rewards. Which is what self-control has the ability of obtaining in all areas of life.

Moderation:  The process of eliminating or lessening extremes.

Moderation is a key principle of life.  It is used to ensure normality.  And, if practiced, it certainly ensures consistency.

Thinking on these lines, I can not help but ask a few questions.

Am I self-controlled in my thinking?  Do I consistently reign in & throw out those bad thoughts that try to land and take root in my spirit?  concerning of myself? or of others?

Am I self-controlled in my relationships? Is my parenting in moderation?  Am I allowing God to work where my child is concerned, or am I too much of a "helicopter-mom" that even He can't do the work that's intended?

Do I show to all others that I am lessening/eliminating extreme behaviors?  such as what I say?  to whom I say?  how I act?

Oh it is quite possible to abort another's faith/future/present/dreams/ambitions just by the excessive bickerings/worries/interrogations of what comes from our own mouth and actions.  Yes, quite possible indeed.  This, too, is a very sad state of affairs. for everyone concerned.
****
Lord, help me to reign in myself.  Help me to keep myself on a "short rope", anchored to You, never roaming so far out that I can not feel the tug of Your Spirit instructing me.
****
Self-Control is a 'key for success' in regard to all areas of our living.  Paul thought it important.  I certainly believe God thinks it's important.

So should we.

Psalm 96:13...for he cometh to judge the earth: he shall judge the world with righteousness, and the people with his truth.

Open Hands Of Thanks

There are four things we must do in this life...

Seek God
Praise God
Trust God
Thank God

And through everything....THANK God.

I don't know about you...but for me...in some circumstances I've faced, I found myself a bit confused concerning the matter of "Thanking Him for ALL things".  This was especially in my earlier years.  And in my 20's.  I'm not saying "I've arrived" in this matter.  However, I can say that "I see/understand it more clearer now".  For I'm learning the benefit of....Thanksgiving.

Bringing our thanksgiving to God always precedes a miracle from God.

Victory comes to us through open hands of thanks!  We can not truly Seek Him, Praise Him, or Trust Him when we have clinched fists.  Or are angry, bordering on bitterness.  Sometimes our victory isn't the outcome we expected from the onset, but in retrospect we can see that in whatever the outcome....it's a victory....because God uses all things for good.  And if we are made better, which is His intention, we are victors.

For the last several days my mind has been on this chapter:  Philippians 4

Today it is on Philippians 4:4, Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, Rejoice.

TODAY I am rejoicing that though I face besetting times here, my name is written down in Heaven.

Earth is so temporary.  Heaven is eternal.  It ain't always gonna be like this.  Jesus not only knows my name, but He KNOWS ME!!!!  That, among so many other things, is reason enough to be THANKFUL.  That the great eternal God of the universe truly KNOWS, this is reason enough to lift my hands openly so that I may receive ALL that He wants to give.

Won't you join me?

The Thing That Should Never Change

Proverbs 31:30
Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.

I've been reading (and re-reading) Proverbs for the last couple months.  I'm lovin' it!
Each night before bed I like to read a proverb.  I've been synchronizing my reading according to what day it is.  Ex: Day28/Chapter28
So far it's working out pretty well.

Proverbs 31 has always been intriguing to me.  How on earth does this woman do it all?!  Then it was brought to my attention that most likely this woman was not doing all this every...single...day.  Most likely it was throughout her lifetime that she accomplished all that this wonderful chapter writes of.
I surely hope so!  Thinking "seasons" rather than "daily" terms gives me a breather.

As for this scripture....Ms. Charm (thankfully) left a LOOOONG time ago.  It's funny now as I look back....when I was a teenager...well, I thought I had the "cat by the tail". HA!--the cat finally found the tail and the war is over, folks.  I learned (painfully) that charm is deceptive.

And as for Ms. Beauty...well, she's on her way out too.  (seriously, girls, I'm thinking of getting me some heavy-duty wrinkle cream!-LOL).  There are bags where there should NOT be bags.  I'm looking older (and feeling older) by the day!

Yes, looking over my life, I see the changes.  I feel the changes.

Childhood Season...it is gone now.
Adolescence...gone now.
Young Adulthood...it passed like lightening flashes in the sky, so much was happening then.
The New Motherhood Season....swiftly passed....
Now I'm entering "Middle Age" and I'm deep in the trenches of Motherhood.
And I do mean trenches.
This far into parenthood....Wow!  how did I get here?!
And why does saying "middle age" make me feel like I'm saying "dark ages"??!!

Yes, sometimes I still walk in a daze like I did when I was a new mother,
but, not from sleepless nights of bottle-feedings and diaper-changes.
It's far more than that, my friend.
That season was like cinnamon on warm, buttered toast...and I didn't even stop to appreciate it!

However, through whatever other changes/seasons of life I've got coming to me, what I never want to leave me is the respect and admiration that I have for my Lord. I never want that to change.  He's been too good, way to good, for me to allow that to walk out of my life.  I LOVE HIM more in this season of my life than I believe I ever have any other season.  Why?!  He's proven.

He's the mind-regulator
He's a friend to the lonely
He's the lover of the soul
He is faithful
He's the BEST provider
He gives
and gives again
He gives beauty for ashes
strength for fear,
gladness for mourning.
Daily He shows His power
He is my Redeemer
And He ever liveth!!

I never want to forget that!
(and I don't deserve praise either.  He does!)

Deliverance From Evil

I love Psalm 121, it's my most favorite psalm.  But, I'm ever so grateful for Psalm 91 too!!!  Last Sunday night I needed it.  I won't go into all the details here, but I KNOW God had His hand on me and my church family and gave His angels charge over all of us.

After re-reading this precious Psalm just a moment ago, I had to stop and give the Lord a smile... because verse 3 reads like this:

"Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence"

I read this whole chapter Sunday night, never knowing just what it would mean to me today.  :)

Our God watches over us, ya'll!!!  He knows exactly where we are at all times, and at all times He knows exactly what we face!!!  I love Him with all my heart.  This is why I say, HE IS MY REFUGE and my FORTRESS: my God; in HIM will I TRUST!!!

Just Do What You've Been Taught

Act justly, love mercy and walk humbly before thy God.  --Micah 6:8

You were created by Him, not to be destroyed, but to live.

You were created to LIVE.
You were created to SERVE.

Yet, in our flesh dwelleth no good thing.  We are nothing without Christ.  We have a fallen nature.  So He fulfilled prophecy...He fulfilled His own written Word...and came to earth to die in our stead.  Nothing else would do.  There is no greater love than this.

If we really understood this plan, this gift....we would have no problem with the concept to:

Act Justly.  Love Mercy.  Walk Humbly.

Without Jesus we are nothing but shattered plates on His banqueting table.  When we really understand where we've been and who we are, we would treat our fellow neighbor more fairly, we would give every opportunity for mercy, and we would definitely walk humbly before our God; for we know that without JESUS we are wretched, not fit to serve, not fit to be the servant which brings nourishment to others.  It's all because of HIM that we can do anything worthwhile.

It is all because of His death and resurrection that we have real opportunity at real living.  He has shown us what is good, now let us go do likewise.

Be just.  Be merciful.  Be humble.

Sunset Lesson

Psalm 65:8  They also that dwell in the uttermost parts are afraid at thy tokens: thou makest the outgoings of the morning and evening to rejoice.

Last Sunday evening it just so happened that our church service ended before the sun went completely down for the night. I was riding into town with my mother and I was so grateful to be able to see this:
What beauty! What wonder! What a majestic portrait of God's grace.
This picture does not do justice to the view that we were able to see. I'm telling you, folks, this sunset was BEAUTIFUL.  It really was the most beautiful one I've ever seen.

And this was sort of how our conversation went.

Mom: I wonder what it would look like if you were in a plane? ya know...Up close to it? Wonder if you could see the colors more vividly?

Me: (skeptically & thoughtfully) No...probably be too bright up there. Sun would probably wash out the vividness of the color scheme. May not be as beautiful from up there, looking around it, as it is looking up at it from down here.

Mom: Yeah, maybe so.  You're probably right.

Me: ...but, hey, that just goes to show....there's beauty even while "under the clouds"....and in some cirucumstances there IS more beauty under the clouds than when above them.

And Mom smiled.

It is true, ya know. At least I believe this to be true.  It's in the near-dark moments of life (or even the blackest of moments) that the warmth and light of God's grace enriches us and causes us to see more clearly through the darkness.

I've been living through a circumstance for quite some time now. LIVING THROUGH. Not just merely surviving. But living. By God's grace I have somehow been able to see the beauty of the trial, rather than continually looking upon the grayness (and sometimes, blackness) of it.

The clouds may not move in the sky, but from east to west the sun daily moves. The "cloud" of my life has not moved, but the Son, Jesus Christ, daily moves upon me. He overshadows me in merciful love.  God moves in my life and in each new day He gives me beauty for ashes, strength for pain. Courage for fear. In my loss I have gained so much.

Just because things are a bit dark doesn't mean that we can not have beauty in our lives.  God gives beauty for ashes.  You see, in order for all the inhabitants of earth to see this beautiful sunset last Sunday evening, we had to look up, through the clouds, to view its wonder. Look up, not around or below.  I was below the clouds, they were above me. Yet, upon looking up, through the cracks of them, there was such beauty that at least two occupants of the earth were in awe and nearly held their breath for a few seconds.  Trials can work much the same way.  Thats just how God works in even the worst of circumstances too!

NIV says Psalm 65:8 like this:  The whole earth is filled with awe at your wonders; where morning dawns, where evening fades, you call forth songs of joy

He can work such wonder that, for a moment, it takes our breath away.  He who formed majestic mountains, the lucious meadows, and the deepest of valleys is worthy of praise. He calls us to sing through our pain.  And if the melody just won't come out of our mouth, He understands.  He listens to our trusting heart, and holds us as we cry and sings over us.  By the spoken word of His tongue, He forms all things and He stills all things. He stills the turmoil of nations and He stills the lonely, broken heart. Truly He is the awesome God and He works everything for good.

He answers our every petition with awesome, righteous deeds. His ways are altogether right! And, we are filled with all GOOD THINGS of His house.  Good things.  Those who are brought near (and into) His courts are truly BLESSED!  He calls us to sing, not to complain.

So my praise awaits the Lord, my Most High.  He is my strength.  He gives joy for mourning.  He has forgiven all my trangressions and, daily, He honors me with His presence.  There is nothing like being immersed in the presence of the King of kings.

Our God is the HOPE for all the ends of the earth.  Dare to be the quil in His hand that brings HOPE, BLESSING, and JOY to someone else's life-story! Allow Him to use you for His glory. For you never know what clouds are over-hanging another's life.

And remember, with every sunset there awaits a new dawn.
