I Will Fear No Evil ~

Psalm 23:4 (NKJV)  "Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil.."
There are many facets to a Valley.  There is the boss coming to your desk letting you know you have to be let go, plummeting you into unemployment, which has the quick potential to push you straight into financial woes.  Or your valley could be trying to walk through the aftermath of the death of a friend or family member.  Or, it even could be losing your spouse through the heart-break of an affair.  Or, the betrayal of what you thought was a trusted friend.

The list could go on and on, but whatever your valley, when life is so darkened, your way seemingly impassable by fear, God is always near.  Remember God.  He is the Good Shepherd and He is always near.  No matter what you feel, He is near.

Dreams that have slowly died or Hopes that have been cruely crushed, God is our ever-present help.  He is the refuge to run to.

We must walk through our valleys with faith.  Faith is the only way to get through the hard stuff.  Faith is our shield, protecting us from fatal, often spiritual-death.

If you are discouraged...afraid...and desperately trying to keep one foot going in front of the other, desperately trying to simply breathe in and breathe out, facing each day...feeling like there is absolutely no one to trust anymore...Trust in the One who can take care of it all.  He KNOWS, and He never fails.  God knows it all.  What's more, He understands.  He understands your wounded spirit.  He sees you.  He believes in you.  And He is willing to carry you when your legs just give out and can't move anymore.

One way or another you will get through this valley.  You will get THROUGH it with God by your side.  And, like a loving parent, He is applauding you all the way.  He sings over you (Zeph 3:17).  He prays for you (John 17:9).  He loves you (Romans 8:37-39).

Evil is always lurking, Fear is real, but God is greater. Step out in faith.  Have a blessed evening and wonderful Tuesday!

Love Shot to the Heart

 love
So, it's Valentine's Day.  And, there are a lot of lonely souls in the world.  Sad, but true. Loneliness is no respector of persons.  Just ask every elderly person who has no one to come see them, or ask a foster-system child, or if we had the chance, ask an aborted babe.  Yes, Valentine's Day is supposed to be a happy day but all too often it is not.  And sadness on this day does not just happen for the females. Many men suffer too.

When one feels lonely and broken-hearted it sure helps to lift the pain when giving the effort of "reaching-out" instead of "reaching-in".  What a wonderful thing it would be if we all could touch just one person's life today.  I certainly hope I have touched a few today.  (and I think I did)

Today I read a love note.  I so love the Word of God.  It's GOD's love-notes straight to every heart.

Feeling a bit frumpy, ugly, judged, and sad this week I unexpectedly came across this scripture.  It brought so much joy to my heart that I thought I'd save it for "Cupid's Day" so I could share with all of you, my readers on this blog.

I've come to encourage you today and to remind you that God love never fails.  God {heart} you.  God loves you, my friend!  It doesn't matter what negetive thing someone else says or does to you...God is LOVE.  The devil whispers lies and discouragement and is full of deceit, but GOD whispers Peace.  He sings over us.  His banner over us is LOVE.   His love is unconditional.  When we are wrong, when we do wrong, we reap consequences from our Lord, but never condemnation.  Condemnation is the devil's work.

Song of Solomon 4:7 (NLT) You are altogether beautiful, my darling, beautiful in every way.

Crazy Love

Nahum 1:7

The Lord is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble; and he knoweth them that trust in him.

There are many things which contribute to a happy life, but I hope you will agree with me, that God is the Giver of that life.  God is absolutely the greatest, most important source in your life.  Without Him, everything pales, everything loses its meaning.

It's the 'Love Month'.  February.  Everyone is gearing up for that special valentine, it seems.  For reasons I will not divulge (here) I find myself, today, in awe of the awesomeness of God.  He is the best Valentine.  If I had to write my own life's story, it would certainly pale in comparison to how God is writing it!!!  He writes His love on the tables of my heart each day, and I stand in awe.  Through all the mistakes, transgression, pain, divorce, child-rearing, job-less, mending of relationships, goodbyes, hellos, employment, home-ownership,...and the list goes on.  All of it, such a God thing!

It's the God-Things that keep us whistling a tune in sometimes even the darkest of days!  How great is our God!!!

Psalm 92:5  O Lord, how great are thy works!  and Thy thoughts are very deep.

His is not a shallow love.  His love is deep.  It seems, to me, that God shows us that He loves us via the most craziest of ways sometimes.

We have a problem.  We call on Him.  And, He fixes it in such a way that it truly passes our comprehension.  He TOTALLY takes over the show in such a way that we do not see coming.  We find proof of this in scripture.

Ephesians 3:19 And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fullness of God.

God shows us He loves us in the hard things....so that we might be filled with all the fullness of Him.

Pain has a purpose.  God is our refuge.

Warrior Girl Garments

Ephesians 6:11
Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

Who are we fighting?  Satan.

Who can help us fight him?  GOD.

We do not fight against flesh and blood.  If that were the case it would be an easy win.  No, we fight against the principalities and the Ruler of Darkness.  This is a Spirit War.  And, unlike WWII or Vietnam, or any other battle/war you would like to name, this war--The Spirit War--has no end. No.  Not until we reach eternity.

Wounded in battle, all too often God's soldiers feel sorry for themselves.  We wonder, "God, where are you?" "Does anyone care?!", etc.  Yes, this is our humanity showing it's self.

In the heat of life we often feel abandoned.  Sometimes we even relish in, and cozy up with, the "Cloak of Self-Pity". Wearing it, really, as a banner.  We not only wear it, but we whine as we are cloaked within it's fibers, and to every passerby we make sure they know we are hurt.

But, God made us...and he understands us. It is in the times of feeling abandoned that we must take every burden to the LORD and leave it there.

Maybe you are an exception to the cloak-wearer.  But, I'm big enough to confess.

My dear friends, in this War, this War of the Spirit which we will fight all our days while on earth, we must not, we can not, continue to wear the "Cloak of Self-Pity".  Nowhere in that garment is there reflection of God's grace and fortitude. Nowhere within it's threads does it show forth the light of Christ.  This garment does not allow us to SHINE AS LIGHTS in a dark world.  We must relinquish our pain to the Lord. Let Him take that garment and instead square our shoulders back and do what we were called to.

We must take off the garment that would like to smother out, kill us, and instead, put on the whole Armor of God.

We must fight.  We must be brave.  We have no other choice.  Now is NOT the time to slink away in a corner.

NOT IF WE WANT TO WIN!!!

He loved us that much to provide everything we would need to win.  Therefore we must stand. We must gird ourselves with His armor.  He loves us that much, ya'll!  All the parts together help protect the whole soldier.

The Apostle Paul compares the Roman Armor to the Armor of God.  In Ephesians he instructs:
*STAND--standing puts you in position for the fight.  We can keep better watch on the enemy if standing...and looking.
*GIRD YOURSELF WITH THE BELT of TRUTH--in Bible times people would often gather up the long garments they wore and tie them up so as not to stumble or get tripped up in the garments should they need to take quick action. Truthfulness will keep us from stumbling. Wrapping our self in truthfulness, we are better prepared to work alongside God Almighty should a battle be called.
*PUT ON THE BREASTPLATE OF RIGHTEOUSNESS--in Roman times the breastplate protected the vital organs of the soldiers.  They could still move easily, but they were protected while under attack. Righteousness means honesty and justice, which are two elements (if you will) that God expects from us.
*STRAP YOUR SHOES ON--but not just any shoes will do, the GospelPeace Shoes is what God's soldier must wear.  It's really the only brand of shoe worth wearing.  In Roman times the soldiers wore leather shoes that had leg greaves.  They could walk easily, advance easily enough, but it was very hard to walk backward.  The shoes had hobnails, something like football cleats, on the bottom of their shoes. And the greaves were made to fit from the knee down to the ankle.  The Gospel and the Peace it gives enables us to never retreat.  Wearing the GospelPeace Shoes will prevent backsliding.  If you're not wearing the right shoes for the job, you will limp along and not be able to keep up with what God is performing/working out in your life and the lives around you.  God's army advances, never retreats.  Better keep up!!
*HOLD THE SHIELD OF FAITH--this is more important than all the rest.  We must NEVER lose our faith.  Without faith we are unable to put out the fiery darts of the wicked.
*PUT YOUR HAT ON--the Helmet of Salvation.  This isn't just any ole' kind of cap, my friend.  This is the very salvation of God, which is able to keep your minds sane in the crucial, brutal times.  If Satan can dismantle us of the faith in our salvation and/or in the faith of just how big God really is and what He is able to do, then he's pretty much got us whipped.  Keep your helmet on!!!
*SWORD OF THE SPIRIT--keep the Word of God (the BIBLE) in your hand and always before your eyes.  Read it!!!  Hide God's Word in your heart so as when the devil comes a'knockin you can block his blows with the promises of God.  If you want the devil to tremble, there is no quicker way than this.
*ALWAYS PRAY & WATCH--pray, pray, pray.  Always.  Watch with persistence.  Always keep on being a Christian.  No matter how hard it is.  Even when Paul was a prisoner, he kept preaching and stayed faithful.  In the dark moments of your imprisonment, remember Paul.  If he did it, you can too!!! :)

If we as Christians can work together, bind together through the Holy Ghost and Christian Love, we will be a stronger force against the enemy, Satan, the destroyer of souls.

Finally, my brethern, be strong.  Not in yourself.  But, in the Lord.

It is high time we awake out of slumber, throw off the blanket of self-pity, stand, put on the whole armor of God, and FIGHT.  Jesus is coming oh so soon!
