The 2 Needful Ingredients That Go Hand-in-Hand

Proverbs 3:21, 23-24 My son, let not them depart from thine eyes: keep sound wisdom and discretion:…Then shalt thou walk in thy way safely, and thy foot shall not stumble. When thou liest down, thou shalt not be afraid: yea, thou shalt lie down, and thy sleep shall be sweet.

The New Living Translation says it like this: My child, don’t lose sight of common sense and discernment….They keep you safe on your way, and your feet will not stumble. You can go to bed without fear; you will lie down and sleep soundly.

Common Sense and Discernment. These are the 2 needful ingredients a person needs to live a more peaceable existence in this life.

Common Sense means good sense and sound judgment in practical matters; good judgment in action, conduct, and the handling of every day matters
Discernment means the ability to judge well; the ability to decide between truth and error, right and wrong.

It always is a blessing to live life with a good conscience…most people sleep better that way (although I have known a few that could sleep right on regardless). The most helpful way to live life in good conscience is to have some good-common sense and have a heart that leans toward pleasing the Lord.

Just to walk with Jesus…that should mean everything to us. Hope you have a great day today! ~md
