Proverbs 1:33 But whoso hearkenethunto me shall dwell safely, and shall be quiet from fear of evil.
Another version of this scripture passage says it like this: Fools are destroyed by their own complacency. But all who listen to me will live in peace, untroubled by fear of harm.
When it comes right down to the “nitty-gritty”of a situation/matter/cirucumstance, do we really [trust]? We sing the songs…we pray the prayers…we say we trust God…but do we? Do we really trust Him like we sing, pray, and say that we do?
For the past month (or more) I have rassled with this very concept. Living out the dailyness of my life fear has tried to take a stronghold. Life can so be a part of the Center-stage that it becomes hard for us to keep our focus on the point of reference that always should be---The Prince of Peace.
Do to various circumstance I have had to remind myself over..and over…and over..and over again that God is in FULL control of my life, that FEAR has no place to dwell. I’ve had to re-adjust my thinking, re-adjust my spirit. Since I pray to Him, believe in Him, live for Him…why then would He not…should He not…have full control? No matter what happens.
And He DOES have control. With Him in control, what seems to be bad to the naked eye, is to the spiritual eye, perhaps all a part of God’s divine plan. (Biblical examples: Esther, Job, Joseph.)
Just last night I read this scripture promise (above). God knew I needed this and I’m thankful He showed it to me. I really had no idea it was in that Book [the Bible]! Oh, and it is a promise! Whoso harkeneth unto Me shall dwell safely, and shall be quiet from fear of evil. These are words of such HOPE! They are not meant as suggestion, but as command.
Harken: listens Dwell: live in Safely: with safety; in a safe manner Shall: must; ought Quiet: absence of noise or bustle; calm; silence; o become still. Fear: an unpleasant emotion caused by the belief that someone, or something, is dangerous, likely to cause pain, or is a threat. Evil: profoundly immoral and malevolent;wickedness, and depravity, esp. when regarded as a supernatural force.
So, back to the scripture promise….For whoeverthat listens to God, (which is the imperative), it will be a must that he/she livein/with safety surrounding them. He/She will live in a safe manner andought be still, calm, in confident silence, and free from the noise of anunpleasant emotion that is caused by the belief of even the threat of wickedness.
A righteous man’s feet are ordered of theLord. The Lord guides/instructs, and the person listens. It is upto us to follow after, to listen to, the commands and instructions of where itis that HE wants us to place our next step. So if you’re doing allyou know to do, then next time the enemy would like to whisper or shout fearinto your spirit, tell him to “Get back, Jack. God is in control.”
No matter what, God is HOLY. That is first andforemost—His holiness; and He deserves all praise in whatever circumstance. Be stilland know that He is God
